Satwa treasures

Yesterday I walked to Satwa, a much shorter distance from the city than I expected. Lucky I looked over my shoulder because the evening skyline looked like this…Image

(Note to self: take more walks at this time of the day)

Some of the back streets before the bustling Satwa Road offer a very different side to the city.

I made some modest purchases to play around with, but I will be back for more! And hopefully to take some photos of the treasuries of Satwa.

Waif

This little shawlette was a pattern I designed for Twist, my local yarn shop in Woodbridge, Suffolk. It’s a floaty, colourful, little thing to perk up the autumn, a quick knit requiring only one or two balls of lovely Rowan Kidsilk Haze. Only problem is which of the 39 colours to choose!

At the moment the pattern is exclusive to Twist shop as part of a kit including the yarn in a colour of your choice. For details contact Karen at twistyarns@btconnect.com or via the Twist Group on Ravelry.

Mums garden

I was sitting in the sun (in a rare moment this summer) knitting in my mums garden when I got caught by a flower, from the corner of my eye. And then my attention strayed and wandered around flowers beds, and so caught it was that I was drawn from my seat to investigate this array of colour and texture before me, more closely. It’s a lovely moment when you find your self absorbed in nature, submerged in the wonder of natural things and inspired by their character, shapes and hues.

My favourite thing

Pattern: Holla Back Tank

Yarn: Dubai Knits, Faith, Hope and Love.

There is nothing greater than finishing a project and instantly loving it! This vest pattern appealed to me straight away for its fresh n funkiness and it knit up like a dream (although I knitted it in the round to avoid sewing up, always one for the easy route). The yarn is a firm favourite, every time I knit with it, it gives wonderful results, what can be better than that. Only problem is that the temperature where I am at the moment is 40°C! I have managed to wear this a couple of times though🙂
